Natalie Newell

Natalie Newell enters into her second season at the helm of the Indiana University South Bend softball program after serving as the assistant coach for three seasons under Brittney Lightfoot.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 softball season was cut short after that Titans appeared in six games. Under Newell, seven student-athletes were named to the 2020 Spring Academic All-CCAC team.

As an assistant Newell helped the Titans achieve a 51-55 overall record with a 31-37 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference record. During the 2019 season, Newell and the Titans won a program best 23 games after going 23-14 overall and 14-8 during conference play. The historic season came to an end during the CCAC tournament after falling to the No. 1 seeded team in the tournament ONU with a final score of 13-12.

She is a 2011 graduate of Goshen High School where she earned four varsity letters in both softball and basketball. Following her career at Goshen, Newell played four years of softball at Bethel College.  She graduated from Bethel in 2015 with a degree in Elementary Education.

While at Bethel, she was a two-time NAIA All-American, four-time first team All-Conference player, three-time Crossroads League Pitcher of the Year, and a three-time Capital One Academic All-American.  She finished as Bethel’s career record holder for strikeouts.
