Tracy Adds Career-High as Men's Hoops Uses Overtime to Defeat Lakers 70-67

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Indiana University South Bend men's basketball team outlasted Roosevelt University in overtime Wednesday, Feb. 5, on the road by a score of 70-67. The Titans outscored the Lakers 10-7 in the extra five minutes of play, giving IUSB its eighth victory on the road and improving to 3-1 during overtime contests this season.

With the win the Titans advance to 18-8 overall and 12-6 during Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic conference games. Meanwhile, IU South Bend boosts its road record during the 2019-20 campaign to 8-6.

The Lakers held a four-point advantage going into halftime with their largest lead of six occurring at the 5:48 mark. Sophomore Miles Tracy gave the Titans a one-point lead after converting on a free-throw with 2:36 left but Roosevelt used a pair of freebies and a three to take the half advantage.

The second half proved to be another back-and-forth contest as junior guard Dylan Allen gave the Titans the 60-57 lead with just 26 seconds remaining in regulation. Roosevelt's Lucas Jordan nailed a three to tie the game in the final seconds to force IUSB's second overtime contest in just one week.

A Tracy layup and a pair of free-throws from senior transfer Kourtlandt Martin in the final 30 seconds of overtime sealed the IUSB victory. Tracy led IU South Bend with a career-high nod of 23 points to go along with a team-high seven rebounds and four steals. Allen was the final Titan in double figures with 10 points, four assists and two rebounds.

Overall the Titans shot 39.3 percent from the floor but just 20 percent from three-point range. IUSB converted just 19 of its 28 freebies while Roosevelt went to the line on just nine different occasions, converting six. IU South Bend held a slight 38-33 advantage in rebounds while forcing 23 RU turnovers that lead to 19 points.

The Titans return home Saturday, Feb. 8 to host Judson University for another CCAC matchup. The game is slated for 3 p.m. inside the Student Activities Center following the IUSB women's basketball game.
