SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Looking for a bit of payback for their lone CCAC loss of the season, No. 22 IU South Bend picked up their sixth win in a row on Wednesday night, defeating Judson 82-50 inside the Student Activities Center.
Sergio Diaz led the Titans (17-3, 13-1 CCAC) in scoring for the first time this year, scoring 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting, and a 5-for-7 performance from beyond the arc. Dylan Allen tallied 16 points with a team-high four assists, and Kenny Washington posted 14 points with four boards and three assists. Miles Tracy and Micah Poole scored ten points apiece.
The Eagles (10-13, 7-8 CCAC) opened with a narrow lead, 7-5 at the 16:15 mark, but IUSB would score on their next three possessions beginning with a three from Diaz to take a 12-7 advantage two minutes later.
The Titans would slowly pull away throughout the rest of the first half, allowing just one field goal in a nine-and-a-half-minute stretch. A pair of buckets from Tracy along with a three-pointer from Poole gave IUSB their largest lead of the first half, 36-19 with 1:09 on the clock. Allen led the Titans with 12 first-half points, as the home team went into the break leading 38-21.
IU South Bend continued to build on their lead in the second half, led by 13 points and a 5-for-5 performance from Diaz.
The Titans will step outside of the conference race this weekend, when they travel to Miami-Middletown (Ohio) for a non-conference game on Saturday, January 29. Tipoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
