SOUTH BEND, Ind.- Goalkeeper
Kaitlin Paul made 20 saves in Wednesday's contest, but the IU South Bend Titans ultimately fell to St. Francis 5-0.
Saint Francis started the scoring right away, as midfielder Nataely Salgado cashed in on her only shot on goal of the contest, to start the scoring less than two minutes into play. Two more first period goals found IU South Bend trailing 3-0 heading into the second period. In the 49th minute, Fighting Saints midfielder Allison Schaar scored her second goal of the contest. Second half scoring was capped off in the 68th minute, as Mia Acuna found the back of the net in her fifth shot on goal to make the score 5-0.
The Titans saw their best chance to score in the 44th minute. As the final seconds of the first period were winding down, junior forward
Katie Jones fired a shot on goal that was knocked away by Fighting Saints goalkeeper Krystal Rodriguez.
The IU South Bend Titans return to action in their first night game of the season on Saturday, September 17th, against the Tigers of Olivet Nazarene University at 7:00 PM.
