BRIGHTON, Mich.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (0-2, 0-0 CCAC) dropped both games of a doubleheader in their opening weekend of the 2023 season.
In game one, the Titans dropped a two run affair to Concordia University (4-4, 0-0 WHAC) by a score of 6-4.
In game two, IU South Bend fell to Lawrence Tech University (2-1, 0-0 WHAC) by a score of 10-2 in six innings.
Game 1
Abigail Yarnell toed the rubber for the Titans in game one of the year, picking up the loss by allowing six runs on 13 hits.
Offensively, IU South Bend was led by
Jaela Patton and
Jozie Ramer who both finished 2-4.
Patton drove in two runs with singles in the fourth and seventh innings.
Ramer's leadoff double in the seventh inning sparked a two-run rame that brought the winning run to the plate before three consecutive outs ended the Titans rally and the game by a final of 6-4.
Game 2
The Titans allowed one run in the first inning before a
Danielle Gebhart single tied the game at 1-1 in the third inning.
Five third inning runs for Lawrence Tech found the Titans trailing 6-1 going into the fourth inning.
A fourth-inning single by
Haley Fair capped off the scoring for the Titans as they trailed 6-2 going into the fifth inning.
Two more runs in both the fifth and sixth innings for the Blue Devils ended the contest with Lawrence Tech taking home the victory by a score 10-2.
