MILWAUKEE, Wisc.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (14-23, 7-9 CCAC) split a doubleheader against the Cardinal Stritch University Wolves (6-14, 4-14 CCAC), winning game one 15-6 before losing game two 5-3.
Game 1
Maddy Edwards started on the mound for the Titans in game, pitching three and two third innings allowing four runs on four hits while striking out three.
Abigail Yarnell relieved Edwards and pitched the remainder of game one without allowing a run.
Catcher
Maddie Leisher led off the game with a solo homerun to left field to give IU South Bend a 1-0 lead.
The Wolves answered with a run of their own in the bottom half of the first to tie the game.
IU South Bend scored six more runs in the second inning on RBI singles by
Hannah Albright and
Jozie Ramer, a 2 RBI double by
Abigail Yarnell and a Cardinal Stritch error to extend their lead to 7-2.
Maddie Leisher homered for the second time in game one in the top of the third inning to make the IU South Bend lead 9-2.
Cardinal Stritch put up one run in the third inning via sacrifice fly.
In the top of the fourth,
Haley Fair,
Kaitlynne Allen, and
Maddie Leisher each drew RBI walks before
Danielle Gebhart's bases clearing 3 RBI double gave the Titans a 15-3 lead.
The Wolves put up three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning but ultimately fell to IU South Bend by a final score of 15-6 in game one.
Game 2
IU South Bend struck first in game two when first baseman
Jaela Patton drove in
Jozie Ramer and
Maddie Leisher with a two RBI single in the top of the first.
Cardinal Stritch answered with two runs in the bottom of the first to tie the game at 2-2.
One run in the second and two in the fourth gave the Wolves a 5-3 lead through four innings of play.
Jaela Patton drove in her third run of game two with another RBI single in the top of the sixth.
The Titans went scoreless in the seventh and dropped game two to Cardinal Stritch by a score of 5-3.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Sunday, April 23rd, when they host Saint Ambrose University in a doubleheader at Dick Pfeil Field starting at 1:00 PM ET.
