WHITING, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (7-18, 0-4 CCAC) lost both games of a doubleheader to the Calumet College of St. Joseph Crimson Wave (9-17, 3-1 CCAC) by scores of 9-1 and 9-4.
Game 1
The Crimson Wave started the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with a sacrifice fly that gave them a 1-0 lead through one.
Calumet College of St. Joseph continued consistent scoring in game one of Sunday's doubleheader, scoring two runs in the second, third, fourth, and fifth innings on their way to the 9-1 victory.
The IU South Bend offense consisted of four hits, one each by
Maddie Leisher,
Danielle Gebhart,
Haley Fair, and
Kaylee Darnell.
Haley Fair drove in the lone run for the Titans with a one out RBI double that plated
Danielle Gebhart in the bottom of second inning.
Game 2
Calumet College of St. Joseph began the scoring in game two, three RBI walks and an RBI fielder's choice plated four runs for the Crimson Wave in the bottom of the second inning.
Abigail Yarnell drove in the first IU South Bend run with a third inning RBI single that scored
Jozie Ramer.
In the bottom of the fourth inning
Haley Fair provided her second RBI double of the doubleheader, cutting the CCSJ lead to 4-2.
The Crimson Wave responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth and three more in the bottom of the sixth to take a 9-2 lead heading in to the final three outs of the game.
Maddie Leisher's two RBI double plated
Jozie Ramer and
Hannah Albright, cutting the IU South Bend deficit to 9-4.
Leisher's seventh inning two RBI double is her third extra base hit in the last four games and gives her six runs batted in over the last three games.
The Titans offense was blanked through the remainder of the seventh and went on to fall in game two 9-4.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Tuesday, April 4th, with a doubleheader against Trinity International University starting at 3:00 PM.
