Titans take season opener 2-1 over IUPUC

COLUMBUS, Ind.- On Saturday, August 19th, the Indiana University South Bend Titans (1-0, 0-0 CCAC) defeated the Indiana University Purdue University Columbus Crimson Pride (0-1, 0-0 RSC) by a score of 2-1. Saturday's win marks the first season opening victory in the young history of IUSB Women's Soccer.

As a team, the Titans outshot the Crimson Pride 28-10, while attempting twice as many shots on goal as IUPUC.

Senior forward Katie Jones scored both of the goals for IU South Bend, both coming in the second period of play.

Jones' first goal came in the 46th minute of play and was unassisted, giving the Titans a 1-0 lead early in the second period.

Later in the second period, freshman Cassidy Ryan assisted Jones for her second goal of the game, extending the Titans lead to 2-0.

IUPUC answered in the 83rd minute of the contest with an unassisted goal by junior forward Taelyn Hendrickson.
