CHICAGO, Ill.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (19-6, 14-3 CCAC) defeated the Saint Xavier University Cougars (14-11, 9-8 CCAC) by a final score of 60-39.
Wednesday's win avenges the Titans earlier loss to the Cougars and keeps them in sole possession of second place, two games behind CCAC leading Roosevelt University.
Falling behind 10-6 early in the first half, the Titans closed out the first half on a 21-12 run to take a 31-18 lead heading into the locker room at halftime.
Outscoring the Cougars by eight points in the second half,
Jylen Petty's seven second half points helped propel the Titans to a 60-39 victory.
Holding the Cougars to just 39 points, the Titans forced Saint Xavier to a season low in total points by a whopping 14 points.
A low scoring affair saw just two Titans score in double figures, led by junior forward
Jylen Petty who finished with a game high 16 points.
Petty's 16 points came on six made field goals while burying four three point field goals.
With four three pointers on Wednesday, Petty finished with his second most made threes on the season.
The other Titan to score in double figures was senior forward
Dejon Barney who finished with 12 points.
Barney's 12 points came on 60% shooting from the field (6-10) while falling just two rebounds short of recording a double-double.
Two rebounds short of his season average, Barney still finds himself as the only player in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference averaging at least 10 rebounds per game.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Saturday, February 17th, when they return to Chicago, Ill., to square off with CCAC leading Roosevelt University at 4:00 PM ET.
