SOUTH BEND, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (14-28, 7-9 CCAC) split their final conference doubleheader with the Saint Ambrose University Fighting Bees (19-25, 8-8 CCAC) losing game one 5-3 in extra innings before winning game two by a final score of 9-3.
Game 1
IU South Bend got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning when second baseman
Olivia Zarantonello hit an RBI single to score
Jade Baker to give the Titans an early lead.
IUSB plated another in the bottom of the third when
Jozie Ramer's RBI single scored
Summer Johnson to give the Titans a 2-0 lead.
The Fighting Bees of Saint Ambrose were down to their last out in the top of the seventh before a two RBI triple tied the game at 2-2.
Saint Ambrose picked up three more runs on three hits in the top of the eighth inning to take a 5-2 lead.
IU South Bend rallied in the bottom half of the inning, scoring a run on a
Summer Johnson RBI single but could not push any more across and ultimately fell in game one by a final score of 5-3.
Game 2
The Titans struck first again in game two thanks to an RBI single from
Kaitlynne Allen and a Saint Ambrose wild pitch.
Saint Ambrose was held scoreless until the top of the fourth inning when the Fighting Bees offense erupted for three runs on five hits to take a 3-2 lead.
RBI singles from
Leah Dawson and
Jade Baker put the Titans back on top 4-3 through four innings of play.
A two RBI double from
Jordan Watts and a bases clearing three RBI triple from
Jaela Patton put the game on ice as IU South Bend went on to win game two by a final score of 9-3.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Sunday, April 28th, when they conclude the regular season against Aquinas College at 1:00 PM ET.
