Strong Second Half Lifts IU South Bend to Road Victory at St. Ambrose

DAVENPORT, Iowa --- IU South Bend picked up its third conference win of the season on Saturday afternoon, outlasting St. Ambrose 79-71 at Lee Lohman Arena behind a balanced scoring effort and a dominant performance in the paint.

After trailing 35-34 at halftime, IU South Bend (4-4, 3-1 CCAC) used a 45-point second half and shot 56% from the field after the break to take control. The Titans imposed their will inside all game long, outscoring the Bees 44-16 in the paint and holding a 35-29 rebounding advantage behind the work of Ethan Hill, James Stevenson, and Kyle Olagbegi.

The key stretch came with five minutes to go in the conference contest. A back and forth bout sat at 62-61 in SAU's favor but the Titans were ready to pounce. Four different Titans scored on the way to a 13-2 run for a 10-point IUSB lead. Olagbegi went to work in the rally, scoring seven of team's 13 points to put the game away.

Olagbegi led the way with 14 points, going 5-for-7 from the field on Saturday. Mark White tacked on 13 points and five rebounds, while Ethan Hill provided a strong all-around performance with 10 points, seven rebounds, and three steals.

The Titans' bench came up huge, contributing 29 points, with AJ Dunn (8 points), Stevenson (6 points, 6 rebounds), and Millender (5 points) each making timely plays in the second half.

IU South Bend faced one of St. Ambrose's strongest outside shooting performances of the season, as the Bees knocked down 15 threes—but the Titans countered with efficiency, shooting 53.8% from the field and generating 19 points off turnovers to secure the win.

IU South Bend has now won two-straight in CCAC play and returns home on Wednesday in a non-conference game against Moody Bible College at 7:00 pm in the Student Activities Center.
