SOUTH BEND, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (15-10, 12-5 CCAC) defeated the Saint Xavier University Cougars (16-9, 11-6 CCAC) by a final score of 90-83.
IU South Bend started the game hot, opening up a 12-4 lead before the Cougars answered with a 9-5 run to pull within three points at 17-14.
The Titans held the edge over Saint Xavier in the remainder of the period, scoring seven of the final nine points of the half to take a 36-29 lead heading into halftime.
The second half proved to be even as both teams scored 54 points in a high scoring half.
A late last push from the Cougars was not enough as IU South Bend went on to defeat Saint Xavier by a final score of 90-83.
A stellar IU South Bend offense featured four different players to score in double figures, led by junior forward
Nick Mullen who finished with a career high 29 points.
Mullen's 29 points came on 75% shooting from the field (9-12) while also shooting a perfect 8-8 from the line and hauling in eight rebounds.
The next Titan to score double digits was senior forward
Jylen Petty who finished with 14 points.
Petty's 14 points came on nearly 50% shooting while playing in a team high 32 minutes.
Other IUSB Titans to score in double figures were
Shawn Brown and
Collin Schmidt who both finished with 12 points.
Brown missed just one shot from the field (6-7) while Schmidt connected on two of the three triples that he attempted.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Saturday, February 15th, when they host Viterbo University at 3:00 PM in their last regular season home game of the season.
