Titans drop road game to the Tigers

BOURBONNAIS, Ill.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (16-11, 13-6 CCAC) fell to the Olivet Nazarene University Tigers (114-13, 12-7 CCAC) by a final score of 85-80.

Back and forth through most of the first half, Olivet Nazarene and IU South Bend were tied eight different times through the first period.

A 7-0 spurt to end the first half opened up a three point Tiger lead heading into halftime.

Tied at 47-47, a Jylen Petty layup gave the Titans a two point advantage that was short lived with Olivet Nazarene regaining the lead shortly after.

Two made free throws by freshman guard Mark White led to a five point lead for IUSB until the Tigers tied the game again at 65-65.

Olivet Nazarene closed out Wednesday's CCAC match up on a 20-15 run to go home with a victory over the Titans by a final score of 85-80.

A potent IU South Bend offense featured four different scorers to post double figures, led by senior forward Jylen Petty who finished with 17 points.

Petty's 17 points came on 50% shooting from the field (7-14) and from the three point line (3-6)

The next Titan to score in double digits was freshman Collin Schmidt who finished with 14 points.

Schmidt's 14 points came on nearly 70% shooting from the field while shooting a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line.

Other Titans to score in double figures were Quentez Columbus who finished with 13 points and Kyle Olagbegi who finished with 12 points.

The Indiana University conclude the regular season on Saturday, February 22nd, when they travel to Elgin, Illinois, to take on Judson University at 4:00 PM ET.
