No. 5 IUSB Heads to No. 4 Trinity Christian for CCAC Tournament Opener

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. --- It's postseason time.

The No. 5 seeded Indiana University South Bend men's basketball team hits the road Wednesday night for a CCAC Quarterfinal matchup against No. 4 seed Trinity Christian. Tipoff is set for 8:00 pm EST and 7:00 pm local time at the DeVos Gymnasium.

The Titans (18-10, 13-7 CCAC) and Trolls (16-12, 13-7 CCAC) split identical conference records during the regular season — and now meet with a semifinal berth on the line.

IU South Bend enters averaging 80.3 points per game while shooting 49.7 percent from the field as a team. The Titans also hold a +6.0 rebounding margin, averaging 38.0 rebounds per contest.

Trinity Christian averages 78.4 points per game and leads the conference in perimeter efficiency, shooting 38.9 percent from three-point range and making 9.0 threes per game.

THE REGULAR SEASON MATCHUP

These teams met once this season on January 28 in South Bend — and it came down to the final possession. Trinity Christian escaped with a 75-73 win, needing a buzzer beater to fend off the Titans.

Kyle Olagbegi aided  the Titans with 10 points and 9 rebounds in the contest against the Trolls and nearly forced overtime with two free throws in the closing seconds. Four Titans netted double-digit points, including the team leader on the night, Collin Schmidt with 13.

TITANS TO WATCH

IU South Bend features a balanced attack with four players averaging double figures in 2025-26.

Olagbegi is a force inside for IUSB, logging 12.5 points and 5.4 rebounds per game this year. The junior is shooting 55.0 percent from the field and finished the year strong with two 20-point performances, including a double-double in the final four games.

Collin Schmidt stretches the floor for the Titans, netting 10.5 points per game, while shooting 39.5 percent from three. CJ Hornbeak and Mark White bring stingy defense at the guard position, while also averaging 10.4 and 10.0 points per game, respectively.

SCOUTING THE TROLLS

Trinity Christian brings two dynamic scorers with them, as both rank in the top 10 in the CCAC. Garrett Greene, the reigning conference player of the week, averages 16.2 points per game (453 total) with impressive efficiency numbers, shooting 54.0 percent from the field and 44.0 percent from beyond the arc.

Brandon Adorno offers more firepower from outside, boasting 15.5 points per game with 64 triples and a 47.4 three-point field goal percentage. He also is a playmaker, dishing out 103 assists.

WHAT'S NEXT

The winner advances to Friday's CCAC Semifinals and will face the winner of No. 1 seed Governors State vs. No. 8 seed IU Northwest.

For the Titans, it's simple: survive and advance.
