Terry Leek enters his seventh season as an assistant coach for the IU South Bend Women’s Basketball Team.

Coach Leek is a graduate of Warsaw High School and holds a degree in Education from WGU.  After high school, he felt he had a duty to his country, so he entered the United States Marine Corps.  During the next 10 years of his life, he learned the true meaning of leadership, dedication, and responsibility.  Part of his time in the service he had the great fortune to be the point guard on the All-Marine Basketball team, which traveled the world playing foreign national teams and Division I college teams.  This is where his true passion for the game of basketball grew. His desire to stay in the game continued after his playing days so he became an IHSAA official, something he still does to this day. His true passion is to teach this AWESOME game of basketball from the beginning… the fundamentals!!

Coach Leek draws his inspiration from the Indiana high school basketball tradition. He believes all players must have an understanding of correct technique in all aspects of the game from ball handling, passing, and shooting, to the toughness necessary to play defense with purpose. He also believes in the dedication and responsibility it takes not only for the coaches to teach the game but also for the players to learn it. He knows that when he can help players become better, become more dedicated leaders, and take responsibility for themselves and the team, he is also helping them learn how to compete and succeed anywhere, anytime.
