Titans earn road sweep at Calumet

WHITING, Ind. – Current CCAC Defensive Player of the Week Julie Brown put in her team's top offensive performance on Tuesday night, as IU South Bend earned a road win in straight sets at Calumet.

Brown registered 17 kills in the win, setting a new career high for a three-set match. McKenzie Powell finished just shy of a double-double, with 38 assists and nine digs. On defense, Suriya Van der Oord made 14 digs, and Felisha Campanello had four total blocks.

The Titans (17-4, 13-0 CCAC) jumped out to an early 8-4 lead in the first set, after a 5-1 run capped with a kill from Abby Seeger. The Crimson Wave (6-22, 1-11 CCAC) responded with four of the next five points, but IUSB scored on four straight kills including a pair from Brown. The Titans would hold the lead the rest of the way, going up by as much as nine before capturing the set at 25-17.

The home team would lead throughout the early portions of game two, leading as late as 11-8. The Titans came back with a 13-1 run, including eight points in a row, to build a 21-12 advantage. Campanello would close out the set with her kill at 25-18.

IU South Bend would take the third set comfortably, leading wire-to-wire to earn the sweep. Leading 12-10 midway through the game, the Titans would close the match on a 13-3 run. Addison Fella's kill gave IUSB match point at 24-13, then Campanello and Macy Vondoloski ended the night with a block.

The Titans wrap up a four-match road swing on Thursday night, when they travel to Saint Xavier for a battle between the top two teams in the CCAC. First serve with the Cougars is set for 8:00 p.m. ET.
