KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A total of eight IU South Bend programs and 23 student-athletes were recognized on Wednesday, as part of the 2021 NAIA National Awards Day.
IU South Bend Volleyball, Men's and Women's Cross Country, Men's and Women's Tennis, Women's Basketball, Baseball, and Softball were all selected to the NAIA Scholar Team Award list. The full roster for each team must maintain a minimum 3.0 average GPA over both fall and spring semesters.
Titan Volleyball led the way, posting team GPA of 3.54, just ahead of the Women's Cross Country team and their 3.51 GPA.
Individually, 23 student-athletes across six sports earned Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors. This award recognizes NAIA students who are juniors or above, with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. IUSB Baseball led the way with eight Scholar-Athletes on last spring's roster, followed by softball (5), women's basketball (4), volleyball (3), men's tennis (2) and men's golf (1).
