UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (4-4, 2-1 CCAC) defeated the Governors State Jaguars (2-8, 2-2 CCAC) by a score of 87-65. Wednesday's win improves the Titans overall record to 4-4 as well as boosting their CCAC record to 2-1.
The Titans were led by
Donyell Meredith II who finished one assist shy of a double-double, with 19 points and nine assists.
Micah Poole was next in line as he finished with 17 points while shooting a season best 5-6 from beyond the three point line.
Other Titans in double figures included
Kenny Washington who finished two rebounds shy of double-double status, with 16 points and eight rebounds.
Dejon Barney was the last Titan to reach double figures, finishing with 13 points in just 16 minutes of play in his return to the court after being sidelined for the last three games due to injury.
IU South Bend found themselves fighting from behind early, as they fell to a 20-13 deficit just over 10 minutes into the game. After that, the Titans closed out the first half on a 19-8 run to take a lead into halftime by a score of 32-28. The second half was all IU South Bend, as they outscored Governors State 55-37 to take home the victory by a score of 87-65.
Indiana University South Bend returns to action on Saturday, December 3rd, when they take on Trinity Christian at 3:00 PM in the Student Activities Center.
