SOUTH BEND, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (13-1, 7-1 CCAC) defeated the Holy Cross College Saints (7-8, 3-5 CCAC) by a score of 93-73. Tuesday's win marks the third consecutive victory for the Titans and moves them into a three-way tie for first place in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Historic days for
Rachael Robards and
Katie Gard found both Titans break over 1,000 career points in their illustrious careers. Robards finished with 17 points on 5-7 shooting and a perfect 4-4 from behind the three point line. Saturday marked the sixth game this season that Robards' has knocked down no less than three triples.
Katie Gard was next to accomplish the 1,000 point milestone, scoring a driving layup with under two minutes to play in the contest. Gard finished with 15 points on 7-12 shooting from the field, she also hauled in three rebounds and dished out two assists.
The leading scoring for IU South Bend in the twenty point victory was
Maddie Gard who finished with 24 points. Gard's 24 points came on an efficient 9-12 shooting performance as well as 6-7 from the free throw line. Gard also secured six rebounds and dished out four assists.
Tia Chambers ended Tuesday's contest two rebounds shy of double-double status, finishing with twelve points on 75% shooting and eight rebounds.
Emma Fisher also flirted with a double-double as she finished with nine points and eight rebounds. Fisher also had five assists, continuing to flourish in all phases of the game.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans enter a more than two week layoff before they return to action on Wednesday, January 4th, when they take on the Lakers of Roosevelt University at 5:30 PM in the Student Activities Center.
