#22 Titans sweep season series over Cougars

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – A balanced attack led by Dylan Allen's 17 points helped to give No. 22 IU South Bend their ninth win in the last ten games, as the Titans earned a 76-50 win over Saint Xavier at the Student Activities Center on Monday night.

Allen finished with six rebounds while going 5-for-9 from the floor and 3-of-6 from three-point range. Sergio Diaz was the only other player in double figures for the Titans (20-4, 15-2 CCAC), but each player that saw the floor tallied at least six points and a pair of field goals on the night. Diaz picked up 14 points, finishing 4-for-6 from beyond the arc. Miles Tracy was nearing a triple-double by the end of the game, with nine points, nine boards, and eight assists.

The Titans never trailed throughout the game, opening with a pair of threes from Diaz and Allen. The Cougars (14-11, 11-6 CCAC) pulled to within a point with a three at the 15:24 mark of the first half, but IU South Bend responded with a 17-2 run capped with a pair of Spencer Pettit free throws that put IUSB in front 28-12 with 8:24 left until halftime.

Trailing by 17 at the break, Saint Xavier briefly rallied in the second half and cut the Titan lead to single digits with 8:23 left to play, 57-48. The Titans would score the next nine points, including six from Allen, to take control of the game for good.

IU South Bend will now prepare for a road trip to Calumet on Wednesday, February 9, before returning to the Student Activities Center to host Trinity International over the weekend. Tipoff from Whiting, Ind. Is set for 8:30 p.m. ET.
