WHITING, Ind. – No. 20 IU South Bend picked up their sixth road win in a row, as the Titans earned a 80-61 win at Calumet on Wednesday night.
Miles Tracy led the way for the Titans (21-4, 16-2 CCAC), scoring a game-high 20 points, just three shy of a career-high, along with 12 rebounds for his fourth career double-double, and second of the season.
Dylan Allen pitched in with 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting, while Donyell Meredith and Sergio Diaz each scored ten.
A slow start from the visitors saw Calumet lead by as much as seven, midway through the first half. A 12-0 run for the Crimson Wave gave Calumet a 23-16 lead at the 8:31 mark of the first half. A few minutes later, a bucket from Tracy followed by back-to-back threes by Meredith and Diaz put the Titans back on top, 29-28 with 4:45 left in the first half.
IUSB closed the first half on a 16-2 run over the final 6:52, and led at the break, 37-30.
The Titans came out strong in the second half; after Calumet hit a three to resume play, IUSB scored 13 unanswered, building up a 50-33 lead by the 15:08 mark of the second half. The Titans went up by as much as 20 with a pair of Spencer Pettit free throws with 11:46 remaining, and remained in control the rest of the way.
IU South Bend now prepares for their next test, when they host Trinity International at the Student Activities Center. Tipoff with the Trojans is set for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 12.
