AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Titans' four-game win streak was snapped as IU South Bend baseball suffered a 16-3 loss to Northwestern (Iowa) on Tuesday night.
Tony Reyes and Jake Vanderwoude each recorded RBI in the 2nd inning, on a sac fly and two-out single, respectively, batting from the top two spots in the lineup for the Titans (6-9). Hunter Bedell drove in a run in the 5th frame, but as a team IUSB generated just four base hits on the night. The Raiders (4-7) posted a five-run 2nd inning and would lead the rest of the way.
Jack Kienzle and Austin Ver Wey had solid performances out of the bullpen, combining for five strikeouts over the final 1.2 innings pitched, with no hits surrendered.
The Titans are back in action on Wednesday, when they take on Thomas (Ga.) for a single game beginning at 4:45 p.m.
