ELGIN, Ill.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (15-6, 11-3 CCAC) defeated the Judson University Eagles (5-16, 3-10 CCAC) by a score of 78-66.
Wednesday's win moves the Titans into a three way tie for second place in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. IU South Bend, Olivet Nazarene, and Saint Xavier all trail Roosevelt University by one game.
The Titans fell in an early 7-1 hole to begin Wednesday's contest before a 10-0 run gave the Titans a lead that they would hold on to for the remainder of the game. IU South Bend ended the first half on an 8-0 run thanks to back to back three point field goals by
Dejon Barney to give the Titans a 37-23 lead going into halftime.
Donyell Meredith II led the charge for IU South Bend in the first half, scoring 14 of his 17 points in the first 20 minutes of play thanks to 7-11 shooting from the field.
The second half favored the eagles as they outscored IU South Bend by two points in the final 20 minutes of play. With just over nine minutes to play in regulation, Judson guard Leonard Wilson made a three point field goal to bring the eagles within three points.
That was as close as Judson would get, IU South Bend would close the game by going on a 27-18 run to ultimately win Wednesday's contest 78-66.
The leading scorer for IU South Bend was
Dejon Barney who finished with 25 points and 14 rebounds, his second consecutive game reaching double-double status.
The other Titan to reach double figures was
Donyell Meredith II who finished with 17 points on almost 60% shooting from the field. Meredith II also hauled in eight rebounds, leaving him two shy of his first double-double of the season.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Friday, January 27th, when they travel to New Philadelphia, OH., to take on Kent State University at Tuscarawas beginning at 1:00 PM.
