Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Despite a late rally, Titans fall to Roosevelt 77-70

SOUTH BEND, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (10-5, 7-2 CCAC) fell to the Roosevelt University Lakers (11-6, 8-1 CCAC) by a score of 77-70. Wednesday's loss snaps a seven game IU South Bend winning streak and drops the Titans to third place in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference, trailing only Roosevelt and Saint Xavier.

In a first half that featured nine lead changes, the back and forth affair found the Titans trailing by four points heading into halftime. Seven points from both Spencer Pettit and Donyell Meredith II led the Titans in first half scoring.

Down by as many as 19 points in the second half, IU South Bend began to mount a comeback with just over nine minutes to play. A Miles Tracy layup and back to back three point field goals from Micah Poole helped spark a 12-0 run for IU South Bend. A Dejon Barney dunk cut the Roosevelt lead to as little as six points with just over four minutes to play. The rally was cut short when Lakers guard Maurice Commander scored seven straight points to ultimately ice the game.

Five Titans reached double figures in Wednesday's contest led by Donyell Meredith II who finished with 15 points and Micah Poole who finished with 14 points. Nine of Poole's 14 points came from the three point line, where he made three of his five attempts, marking the fifth time this year he has knocked down multiple three point field goals in a game.

Both Miles Tracy and Dejon Barney nearly reached double-double status against the Lakers, Tracy finishing with 10 points and six rebounds while Barney finished with 11 points and seven rebounds.

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Saturday, January 7th, when they travel to Trinity Christian to take on the Trolls for a 4:00 ET tip off.
