LAKEVILLE, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (3-11-1, 0-9-0 CCAC dropped their final home contest of the season to the Saint Xavier University Cougars (7-3-3, 5-3-1 CCAC) by a final score of 4-2.
Junior forward Esmeralda Diaz got the Cougars on the board in the 13th minute of the CCAC affair with a goal assisted by Alex Jonaitis to give Saint Xavier a 1-0 lead.
Saint Xavier added on to their lead in the 23rd minute when midfielder Louisa Schreiber found the back of the net to extend the Cougars lead to 2-0.
Later in the first period, IU South Bend answered when freshman forward
Cassidy Ryan scored in the 26th minute to cut the Titans deficit to 2-1.
Just two minutes later, Esmeralda Diaz scored another goal to give the Cougars back their two score cushion, now leading 3-1.
Later in the first period, Esmeralda Diaz completed her hat trick with another goal assisted by Alex Jonaitis to furter the Saint Xavier lead to 4-1.
Freshman forward
Emma Szakal scored the only goal of the second period in the 78th minute of the game to bring the Titans closer, trailing 4-2.
IU South Bend was blanked for the remainder of the game and went on to fall to the Cougars 4-2.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Wednesday, October 25th, when they travel to Notre Dame, Ind., to take on the Saints of Holy Cross College.
