SOUTH BEND, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (6-0, 0-0 CCAC) defeated the Bethel University Pilots (2-3, 0-0 CRC) by a final score of 88-65. Wednesday's win improves IU South Bend to a perfect 6-0 to start the season.
Back and forth throughout the first 10 minutes of play, the Titans took a one point lead heading into the second quarter.
IU South Bend came out in the second quarter firing, outscoring the Pilots 24-8 in the period to take a 46-29 lead heading into halftime.
The Titans proceeded to outscore Bethel in both second half quarters and go on to win Wednesday's contest by a final score of 88-65.
A well balanced IU South Bend offense featured three scorers to record at least 20 points, led by guard
Katie Gard who finished with a career high 28 points.
Gard's 28 points came on a perfect 6-6 from the three point line while shooting better than 75% from the field.
The next Titan to record at least twenty points was senior guard
Jazmen Watts who finished with 22 points.
Watts' 22 points came on 3-4 shooting from the three point line and 70% shooting from the field while playing in a game high 37 minutes.
The last Titan to record at least 20 points was guard
Maddie Gard who finished with 20 points.
Gard's 20 points came on 50% shooting from the field while also tying for a team high in rebounds with seven.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Tuesday, November 21st, when they host the Indiana University Northwest RedHawks at 5:30 PM in the Student Activities Center in a rematch of last year's CCAC Tournament Championship.
