SOUTH BEND, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (3-3, 0-0 CCAC) fell to the Shawnee State University Bears (2-2, 0-0 MSC) by a final score of 73-72.
Back and forth through most of the first half, the Titans took a four point lead into the locker room at halftime thanks to four straight points by senior guard
Micah Poole to close out the half.
Tied as late as 62-62, IU South Bend went on a 10-5 run to put themselves ahead by five with under one minute remaining.
Back to back made three pointers in the final thirty seconds allowed Shawnee State to escape with a narrow victory by a final score of 73-72.
The IU South Bend offense featured featured three different scorers to record double figures, led by senior guard
Dejon Barney who finished with 19 points.
Barney's 19 points came on better than 50% shooting from the field while playing in a game high 35 minutes.
Barney also led the Titans on the glass with 15 rebounds, good for his third consecutive double-double.
Next in line in scoring for IU South Bend was junior guard
Quentez Columbus who finished Saturday's contest with 18 points.
Columbus' 18 points came on 6-14 shooting from the field while also knocking down a game high five free throws.
The last Titan to record double figures in the scoring column was senior guard
Micah Poole who tied a season high with 14 points.
Poole's 14 points came on an efficient 5-7 shooting performance from the field in just 25 minutes of action.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Tuesday, November 21st, when they host the Indiana University Northwest RedHawks at 7:30 PM in the Student Activities Center to begin conference play.
