Titans take three of four from Culver-Stockton

CANTON, MO.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (4-7, 0-0 CCAC) won their series over Culver-Stockton College (4-6, 0-0 HOA) winning three of the four games in the weekend series. 

Game 1

IU South Bend took game one of the series, winning by a final score of 6-4.

Senior right handed pitcher Riley Getman earned his first victory of the 2023 campaign, pitching one inning while allowing two hits and striking out one. Robbie Berger was credited with the save, throwing four innings of three hit baseball while allowing no earned runs and punching out four. 

Logan Smith and Kaleb Farnham led the offense, each collecting two hits and driving in a run in game one. 

Brett Sikorski, Brenden Bell, and Kole Miller also drove in a run each in the weekend opening victory. 

Game 2

The Titans took game two of Saturday's doubleheader, winning by a score of 9-3 to sweep day one versus Culver-Stockton. 

Alex Babbitt earned his first win in game two, pitching four innings while allowing zero runs and striking out four wildcats. 

Logan Smith, Drew Barber, Kole Miller, and Gabe Cortez each collected multiple hits and drove in a run on the way to the 9-3 Titans victory. 

Game 3

Senior Sam Hinshaw got the loss on the mound for IU South Bend, allowing six earned runs on five hits through an inning and two thirds. 

Gabe Cortez and Logan Smith both left the yard on solo home runs for two of the six IU South Bend hits in the 11-4 loss. 

Game 4

Sophomore right handed pitcher Jack Kienzle earned his first win of the season in game four of the weekend, pitching two and two thirds innings while allowing no hits and striking out two. 

Five IU South Bend Titans collected multi-hit games in a game that took nine innings to conclude. The offense was led by seniors Jake VanderWoude and Brett Sikorski who both went three for six and drove in multiple runs in the series clinching victory. 

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Friday, February 24th, when they travel to Georgia to take on the Georgia Gwinnett College Grizzlies in a four game series.
