SOUTH BEND, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (26-2, 18-2 CCAC) defeated the Roosevelt University Lakers (12-15, 9-11 CCAC) by a score of 72-55.
Wednesday's victory extends the Titans winning streak to six games and advances them into the semifinals of the CCAC Conference Tournament.
The IU South Bend offense was led by senior guards
Katie Gard and
Maddie Gard who both finished with 20 points.
Katie Gard did so on 7-12 shooting from the field including 3-5 from the three point line and 3-4 from the free throw line. Gard finished three rebounds shy of double-double status, securing seven boards to help boost her season average to almost five rebounds a game.
Maddie Gard scored her 20 points on an efficient 80% shooting from the field and a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line. Gard's 80% shooting from the field improves her season field goal percentage to better than 54%.
A swarming IU South Bend defense forced 20 Roosevelt turnovers that led to 16 points. The Titan defense was led by
Sara Doi who finished with a season high seven steals.
Indiana University South Bend returns to action on Friday, February 24th, when they host #4 seed Saint Francis at 7:00 PM in the Student Activities Center for the right to move on to the CCAC Conference Tournament Championship.
