SOUTH BEND, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (22-8, 15-5 CCAC) defeated the Olivet Nazarene University Tigers (23-7, 17-3 CCAC) by a score of 89-76.
Thursday's victory avenges the Titans three point loss to Olivet Nazarene on February 1st and advances them to the CCAC Tournament Championship.
The Titans were led by senior guard
Kenny Washington who after not scoring a point in Tuesday's quarterfinal versus Saint Francis erupted for 24 points to lead IU South Bend past Olivet Nazarene.
Washington's 24 points came on better than 80% shooting from the field as well as 100% from both the free throw line and the three point line. Washington missed only two shots all night to lead the Titans to the conference tournament championship.
Dejon Barney finished three rebounds shy of a double-double, scoring 15 points and securing seven rebounds. Barney's 15 points came thanks to a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line, good for his season high at the charity stripe.
Next in line in scoring for the Titans was senior forward
Miles Tracy. Tracy scored 14 points on better than 70% shooting from the field and a season high 3-4 from the three point line.
The final Titan to reach double figures was
Sam Snodgrass, scoring 10 points without missing a field goal. Snodgrass also finished three rebounds shy of double-double status as he hauled in seven boards.
A unified effort from IU South Bend saw every Titan that entered the game score at least eight points.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Saturday, February 25th, when they travel to Chicago, Ill., to square off with Saint Xavier University for the CCAC Tournament Championship. The winner of Saturday's contest clinches a spot in the NAIA National Tournament.
