SOUTH BEND, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (28-2, 18-2 CCAC) defeated the Indiana University Northwest Redhawks (24-7, 17-3 CCAC) by a score of 87-65.
Monday's victory makes IU South Bend the first team of any sport in school history to win both the regular season and the conference tournament championship.
The Titans CCAC Tournament Championship also marks the first time since 2009 that a school in the CCAC has won both the Men and the Women's Conference Tournament Championship.
IU South Bend was led in scoring by senior guard
Maddie Gard who finished with a season high 25 points on 10-14 shooting from the field.
Gard's 25 points marks the fifth time this season that she has scored 20 or more points and also gives her over 400 total points in the 2022-2023 season.
Next in line in scoring for the Titans was senior guard
Katie Gard who finished with 20 points on 7-11 shooting from the field and a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line.
Gard's 20 points also marks the fifth time this season in which she has scored at least 20 points and gives her a total of 422 points on the year.
The last Titan to reach double figures was junior guard
Jazmen Watts who finished with 13 points on 5-8 shooting from the field and a perfect 2-2 from the three point line.
Watts' has recorded double figures in her last two contests against the Redhawks and a total of six times in the last eight games.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans await their opponent and location for the NAIA National Tournament which gets released on Thursday, March 2nd. The Titans begin the NAIA National Tournament on Tuesday, March 7th.
