GRANGER, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (16-21, 12-8 CCAC) won both games of a doubleheader against the Calumet College of St. Joseph Crimson Wave (14-27, 6-14 CCAC) by scores of 6-5 and 18-1. Saturday's sweep moves IU South Bend into third place in the CCAC, just two games behind first place Saint Ambrose University.
Game 1
Senior left handed pitcher
Taylor Clifton started on the mound for the Titans in game one, pitching two scoreless innings without allowing a hit and striking out two. The southpaw has allowed no runs to score in four of his last five appearances.
IU South Bend struck first in the bottom of the first inning thanks to RBI singles by
Kaleb Farnham and
Brett Sikorski.
The Titans got on the board again in the bottom of the second when a dropped third strike allowed
Coby Campbell to score, extending the IU South Bend lead to 3-0.
The Crimson Wave answered in the top of the third, plating two unearned runs to shorten their deficit to 3-2.
Second baseman
Brenden Bell reached on an error that scored
Josiah Nelson to further the Titans lead to 4-2.
Junior right hander
Jake McKendry entered the game on the mound in the fourth inning and went on to pitch three innings, allowing just one earned run while striking out two.
CCSJ proceeded to tie game one in the top of the fifth inning thanks to an RBI single by Crimson Wave catcher Jacob St. Marie.
IU South Bend regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth when third baseman
Logan Smith recorded one of his four hits in the contest, singling in
Donnie Necas.
Sophomore hurler
Jack Kienzle entered the game on the mound in the bottom of the seventh, pitching a season high four innings while allowing just one run while striking out two on his way to picking up his second win of the year.
CCSJ tied the game with two outs in the top of the seventh when second baseman Maurey Garrett Jr. drove in the game tying run.
Scoreless through the eighth and ninth, the Titans went on to win game one in the bottom of the tenth when
Brenden Bell reached on an error that scored
Coby Campbell, giving IU South Bend a 6-5 victory.
Game 2
Senior right hander
Payton Carney started on the mound for IU South Bend in game two, earning the win by pitching two scoreless frames and striking out two. Carney's two shutout innings give him scoreless appearances in five of his last six times on the rubber.
A red hot Titans offense plated 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning to break the game open early.

Kole Miller all drove in runs in the bottom of the first to begin the slaughter of CCSJ.
Junior left hander Joshua Chajet relieved Carney on the mound in the top of the third, pitching a scoreless frame to keep the Titans in control of game two.
Alex Babbitt relieved Chajet and picked up right where he left off versus Trinity Christian, pitching four innings while allowing just one run and striking out seven hitters for the second consecutive time.
The IU South Bend offense continued to roll in the fourth inning when a
Drew Barber sacrifice fly drove in
Josiah Nelson before designated hitter
Kaleb Farnham cleared the bases with a 3 RBI double to extend the Titans lead to 14-0.
A fifth inning three run homerun by catcher
Drew Barber furthered the Titans lead to 17-0.
The Crimson Wave scratched one run across in the top of the sixth before IU South Bend center fielder
Owen Benson concluded the scoring in game two with an RBI single that extended the Titans lead to 18-1.
CCSJ went scoreless in the sixth and seventh as the Titans went on to win game two 18-1.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Tuesday, April 18th, when they host a doubleheader against Indiana University Purdue University Columbus at 1:00 PM ET at Rex Weade Stadium.
