JOLIET, IL.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (24-25, 15-10 CCAC) fell 7-1 to the Saint Xavier University Cougars (31-25, 17-10 CCAC) in the CCAC Tournament Championship.
Saint Xavier jumped out to an early lead, plating five runs on four hits in the top of the first inning to take a 5-0 lead.
The Cougars added two more runs in the top of the second inning on back to back RBI singles to extend their lead to 7-0.Â
Senior right handed pitcher
Robbie Berger got into a groove starting in the third inning, pitching nine innings in Tuesday's tournament championship allowing just two runs while striking out 10 Saint Xavier Cougars.Â
IU South Bend was held scoreless until the bottom of the ninth inning when right fielder
Kole Miller singled in
Logan Smith to cut the Titans deficit to 7-1.Â
The Titans failed to comeback in the ninth and lost the CCAC Tournament Championship to Saint Xavier University by a score of 7-1.Â
Nevertheless, IU South Bend made program history in 2023 by reaching their first ever CCAC Tournament Championship.Â
