Titans defeat Saint Ambrose to earn Head Coach Steve Bruce his 300th career win

DAVENPORT, Iowa- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (16-0, 8-0 CCAC) defeated the Saint Ambrose University Fighting Bees (2-11, 2-6 CCAC) by a final score of 84-63.

Sunday's win marks the 300th career victory for Head Coach Steve Bruce in his illustrious career. The reigning CCAC Coach of the Year led the Titans to both a CCAC Regular Season Championship and a CCAC Tournament Championship while losing just three games in all of the 2022-2023 season. After appearing in back to back NAIA National Tournaments, Coach Bruce has the Titans off to a perfect 16-0 start and poised for yet another NAIA Tournament run.

Sunday's CCAC victory saw IU South Bend outscore the Fighting Bees in all four quarters to extend their conference record to a perfect 8-0.

The Titans offense featured four different Titans to score in double figures, led by Tenleigh Phelps who finished with 24 points.

Phelps' 24 points came on better than 50% shooting from the field while also hauling in a season high 17 rebounds.

With 17 rebounds on Sunday, Phelps fell just one rebound short of tying the Indiana University South Bend Women's Basketball program record for rebounds in a game.

The next Titan to score in double figures was fifth year senior guard Maddie Gard who finished with 18 points.

Gard's 18 points came on better than 57% shooting from the field while also knocking down both of her free throw attempts.

With 18 points on Sunday, Maddie Gard continues her streak of scoring at least 15 points in four straight games and moves her into fourth place in scoring in the CCAC at better than 16 points per game.

Guard Jazmen Watts concluded the CCAC clash with 17 points on better than 50% shooting from the field while also securing six rebounds for the fourth time this season.

With 17 points on Sunday, Watts moves herself into the top 10 in scoring in the CCAC at better than 13 points per game.

The last Titan to score in double figures was guard Katie Gard who finished with 12 points while playing in a team high 32 minutes.

Gard's 12 points leaves her inside of the top five in scoring in the CCAC at just less than 16 points per game while remaining in fourth place in conference in three point shooting percentage.

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Wednesday, January 17th, when they travel to Elgin, Ill., to take on the Eagles of Judson University.
