Titans extend winning streak to three straight games with 82-73 win over St. Francis

JOLIET, Ill.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (15-6, 10-3 CCAC) defeated the University of Saint Francis Fighting Saints (5-13, 4-9 CCAC) by a final score of 82-73. 

Wednesday's win extends the IU South Bend winning streak to three consecutive games and keeps them in sole possession of second place in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. 

The Titans erupted offensively right out of the gate, jumping out to a 22-7 lead just seven minutes into the conference matchup. 

IUSB kept their foot on the gas pedal throughout the remainder of the first half, taking a 44-28 lead at the end of one half. 

The Titans began the second half on a 15-10 run to jump out to a 59-38 lead with just over twelve minutes remaining in Wednesday's contest. 

However, Saint Francis did not go away, cutting the lead to just 10 points with just over three minutes remaining. 

Both teams traded baskets in the games final three minutes as the Titans came out victorious, defeating Saint Francis by a final score of 82-73. 

The IU South Bend offense featured three players to score in double figures, led by senior forward Dejon Barney who finished with a game high 29 points. 

Barney's 29 points came on 60% shooting from the field (12-20) while knocking down five of the seven free throws that he attempted and hauling in 14 rebounds, good for his eleventh double-double of the season. 

Averaging better than 18 points and more than 10 rebounds per game, Barney is the only player in the CCAC to average a double-double. 

The next Titan to score in double figures was guard Micah Poole who finished with 13 points. 

Poole's 13 points came on nearly 50% shooting from the field while knocking down two three point field goals and sinking five of the eight free throws that he attempted. 

With 13 points on Wednesday, Poole now has 10 games this season scoring in double figures. 

The last Titan to score in double figures was senior guard Terry Ford with 12 points. 

Ford's 12 points came on four made field goals, three made free throws and a made three pointer while also dishing out six assists. 

12 points in Wednesday's win marks the sixth game this season in which Ford has scored double figures. 

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Saturday, February 3rd, when they host Governors State at 3:00 PM in the Student Activities Center.
