JOLIET, Ill.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (21-0, 13-0 CCAC) defeated the University of Saint Francis Fighting Saints (4-9, 8-13 CCAC) by a final score of 83-66.
Wednesday's road victory extends the Titans winning streak to 21 straight games and keeps them in sole possession of first place in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Trading baskets throughout the first quarter, a made three point field goal from Saints guard Tykara Harrison gave Saint Francis a two point lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Titans outscored Saint Francis 21-15 in the second quarter thanks to six points on two three point field goals from guard
Emma Fisher to take a 36-32 lead heading into halftime.
Outscoring the Saints by at least six points in both the third and fourth quarters, IUSB defeated Saint Francis by a final score of 83-66.
A balanced Titans offense featured four different players to score in double figures, led by guard
Maddie Gard who finished with a team high 21 points.
Gard's 21 points came on nearly 70% shooting from the field (9-13) while knocking down both triples that she attempted and securing 10 rebounds, good for second double-double in the last three games.
Improving her scoring average to better than 16 points per game, Gard currently ranks fourth in the CCAC in points per game.
The next Titan to record double figures in the scoring column was
Tenleigh Phelps with 20 points.
Phelps' 20 points came on better than 60% shooting from the field (8-13) while knocking down two three points field goals that she attempted and hauling in six rebounds.
At better than 20 points per game on better than 62% shooting from the field, Phelps places second in the conference in points per game and first in conference in field goal percentage.
Another Titan to score in double figures was senior guard
Jazmen Watts who finished with 17 points.
Watts' 17 points came on nearly 50% shooting from the field while knocking down three shots from beyond the three point line.
With 17 points in Wednesday's win, Watts remains just outside the top 10 in points per game in the CCAC.
The last Titan to score in double figures was guard
Emma Fisher who finished with 12 points.
Fisher's 12 points came on better than 60% shooting from the field while knocking down a career high two three point field goals.
At better than 55% shooting from the field, Fisher ranks third in the CCAC in field goal percentage.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Saturday, February 3rd, when they host second place Governors State at 1:00 PM in the Student Activities Center.
