Titans split opening day doubleheader

MILLINGTON, Tenn.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (1-1, 0-0 CCAC) split their opening day doubleheader, falling to Indiana University Kokomo 10-1 before defeating Rochester University by a final score of 13-0. 

Game 1

Right handed pitcher Cade Van Ness got the start on the mound in Saturday's opening day, pitching three innings while striking out two Cougars and allowing five runs on six hits before being replaced by senior Jake McKendry

McKendry also threw three innings while striking out one hitter and allowing just three earned runs. 

IU Kokomo scored at least one run in all six innings while scoring three runs in the first inning. 

The Titans scored their only run in Saturday's game one when shortstop Jack Ryan doubled to plate Evan Fortson

Game 2

IU South Bend defeated the Warriors of Rochester University 13-0 while scoring in every inning but the fourth. 

Four different Titans recorded multi hit games including Kaleb Farnham, Jack Ryan, Quinn Meier and Devin Smith 

Evan Fortson, Jack Ryan and Braedon Leathed all tallied at least two runs batted in while Fortson and Leathed drove in three. 

Right handed pitcher Adam Amodei earned his first win as a Titan by throwing two innings of shutout baseball and striking out two. 

Freshman Andrew Parker relieved Amodei and worked three innings of scoreless baseball while striking out a team high five hitters. 

Senior right handed pitcher Matt Lood came in to pitch the final innings of game two, striking out four Warriors while allowing just two hits to help the Titans win game two.
