UPLAND, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (1-4, 0-0 CCAC) dropped Wednesday's interstate contest to Taylor University (4-7) by a final score of 15-3.Â
The Titans fell to an early 1-0 deficit after back to back hits plated Taylor lead off hitter Camden Knepp to give the Trojans the lead through one inning of play.Â
Runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings extended the IU South Bend deficit to 4-0 before catcher
Anthony Pohl cut the Taylor lead in half with a two RBI single in the top of the sixth inning, scoring
Kaleb Farnham and
Jack Ryan.Â
However, the Trojans answered with eight runs of their own in the bottom half of the frame to take a commanding 12-2 lead.Â
Two more runs in the seventh and one more in the eighth propelled the Taylor lead to 15-2 heading into the ninth inning.Â
The Titans scratched one run across in the top of the ninth when second baseman
Devin Smith singled to score
Sam Garner.Â
IUSB could not score anymore in the ninth and fell to the Trojans by a final score of 15-3.Â
Pitchers
Adam Amodei,
Alec Bixler, and
Jack Kienzle all worked an inning on the mound without allowing an earned run.Â
