SOUTH BEND, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (19-8, 14-5 CCAC) fell at home to the Olivet Nazarene University Tigers (20-7, 14-5 CCAC) by a final score of 82-73.
Wednesday's loss drops the Titans out of sole possession of second place in the CCAC and into a three way tie for second place with Olivet Nazarene and Indiana University Northwest.
A first half of runs saw IU South Bend jump out to an early 11-4 lead before the Tigers came storming back, tying the game at 22-22 with just over six minutes to play in the first half.
Back and forth from there, Olivet Nazarene had a two point lead on the Titans last possession of the first half before a
Micah Poole put back layup tied the game as time expired in the first half.
Tied at 62-62 with seven minutes remaining, the Tigers ended the game on a 20-11 run to close out Wednesday's CCAC affair and give the Titans back to back losses for just the third time this season.
The IU South Bend offense featured five different Titans to score in double figures, led by guard
Micah Poole who finished with 18 points, falling two shy of tying his career high.
Poole's 18 points came on an efficient 50% shooting from the field (7-14) while knocking down four three point field goals for the third time this season.
Other Titans to score in double figures included
Terry Ford and
Dejon Barney who finished with 11 points and
Quentez Columbus and
Jylen Petty who finished with 10 points.
Ford's 11 points came on 57% shooting from the field while also dishing out four assists and securing four rebounds.
Barney's 11 points came on just under 50% shooting from the field while also hauling in 12 rebounds for his CCAC leading fourteenth double-double of the season.
Quentez Columbus' 10 points gives him 15 games this year scoring in double figures, doing so in just 24 minutes of action on Wednesday.
Jylen Petty's 10 points came on 40% shooting from the field while knocking down multiple three point field goals for the fifteenth time this season.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Senior Day, February 24th, when they host the Judson University Eagles at 3:00 PM in the Student Activities Center to close out the regular season.
