Titans advance to CCAC semifinals with 77-60 win over Saint Francis

SOUTH BEND, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (28-1, 19-1) defeated the University of Saint Francis Fighting Saints (11-18, 7-13 CCAC) in the quarterfinals of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference by a final score of 77-60.

A slow start for the Titans saw them face an early 7-0 deficit nearly halfway through the first quarter until Tenleigh Phelps got IU South Bend on the board with two free throws, after that the Titans went on 16-5 run to take an 18-12 lead heading into the second quarter.

IU South Bend took control of Tuesday's quarterfinal in the second quarter, outscoring Saint Francis 21-10 thanks to eight points from Maddie Gard and seven points from Tenleigh Phelps in the second quarter.

Back and forth in the third quarter, IUSB still managed to outscore the Fighting Saints by two points to take a 63-44 lead heading into the games final quarter and ultimately win Tuesday's CCAC opening round matchup by 17 points.

The Titans offense featured two players scoring in double figures as both Maddie Gard and Tenleigh Phelps tied the game high with 25 points.

Gard's 25 points came on nearly 70% shooting (9-13) while also sinking six free throws, collecting six rebounds and tallying four steals.

Phelps' 25 points came on 75% shooting from the field (9-12) while tying a season high by burying four three point field goals in 34 minutes of action.
