WHITING, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend (23-0, 15-0 CCAC) defeated the Calumet College of St. Joseph (1-20, 0-15) by a final score of 81-44.
Wednesday's win extends the Titans winning streak to a school record 23 straight games and keeps in first place in the CCAC, three games ahead of second place Governors State.Â
Leading by just eight points more than halfway through the first quarter versus conference winless CCSJ, Titans Head Coach
Steve Bruce called a timeout that lead to a 12-2 IUSB run to close out the first quarter with a lead of 28-10.Â
The Titans proceeded to outscore the Crimson Wave in each of Wednesday's remaining three quarters to take a 81-44 victory over CCSJ.Â
A balanced IU South Bend offense saw every Titan that entered the game score at least two points, while featuring five players score in double figures.Â
Tenleigh Phelps led the Titans in scoring with 22 points while also hauling in seven rebounds in only 21 minutes of action.Â
With 22 points on Wednesday, Phelps improves her season average scoring to 20 points per game while also posting eight rebounds per contest.Â
The next Titan to score in double digits was senior guard
Jazmen Watts who finished with 13 points.Â
Watts knocked down three triples for the sixth time this season while also securing seven rebounds.Â
Guard
Emma Fisher recorded her second consecutive double-double, scoring 12 points and recording 10 rebounds.Â
Converting on six of the eight field goals that she attempted, Fisher moved herself back into third place in the CCAC in field goal percentage at better than 55%
Other Titans to record double figures in the scoring column included
Maddie Gard and
Ashlee Schram who both finished with 10 points.Â
Gard's 10 points came on five made field goals while falling just one rebound short of double-double status. Nine rebounds in Wednesday's win gives Gard five straight games recording at least nine rebounds.Â
Schram's 10 points came on better than 60% shooting while knocking all six free throws that she attempted in only 16 minutes of action. Hauling in nine rebounds in Wednesday's CCAC contest, Schram fell just one rebound short of her first career double-double.Â
The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Saturday, February 10th, when they host the Fighting Bees of Saint Ambrose at 1:00 PM in the Student Activities Center.Â
