WHITING, Ind,- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (14-24, 6-14 CCAC) won both games of their doubleheader over the Calumet College of Saint Joseph Crimson Wave (14-24, 6-14) by final scores of 6-3 and 14-5.
Game 1
IU South Bend took the lead in game one when second baseman
Sam Garner's RBI ground out scored
Josiah Nelson to give the Titans a 1-0 lead.
The Crimson Wave answered in the bottom of the second scoring two runs to take a 2-1 lead.
A third inning RBI double from
Anthony Pohl and fourth inning RBI singles from
Jack Ryan and
Anthony Pohl gave the Titans a lead heading into the bottom of the fourth. CCSJ responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning to cut their deficit to 4-3.
Kaleb Farnham hit an RBI double in the top of the sixth and a passed ball scored another Titan to help lead IUSB to a 6-3 victory in game one.
Game 2
Calumet College of Saint Joseph took the lead on a third inning home run. IU South Bend responded in the top of the fourth by scoring six runs on three hits with RBIs coming from
Josiah Nelson,
Sam Garner,
Braedon Leathed, and
Anthony Pohl.
A
Kaleb Farnham three run home run extended the Titans lead to 9-2 before CCSJ put up two runs in the sixth inning to cut their deficit to 9-4.
A
Sam Garner seventh inning two RBI single grew the IUSB lead before three more runs in the top of the ninth helped the Titans sweep the doubleheader, winning game two 14-5.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Sunday, April 14th, when they host the Calumet College of Saint Joseph Crimson Wave at Rex Weade Stadium at 1:00 PM ET.
