GRANGER, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (18-30, 10-20 CCAC) dropped both games of their doubleheader to the Roosevelt University Lakers (26-20, 17-13 CCAC) falling in game one 17-15 before dropping game two by a final score of 12-1.
Game 1
First baseman
Kaleb Farnham got the Titans on the board in the bottom of the first inning with a two RBI triple that scored
Logan Smith and
Evan Fortson before Roosevelt responded with five runs on three hits in the top of the second to take a 5-3 lead.
The IU South Bend offense responded in exploding fashion in the bottom of the second, scoring eight runs on eight hits to regain a 10-5 through two innings of play.
Jack Ryan,
Quinn Meier, and
Devin Smith all hit RBI singles in the frame while
Donnie Necas smacked a two run home run to drive in the Titans runs.
Eight Roosevelt runs on seven hits throughout the next two innings allowed the Lakers to regain a 13-10 lead through three and a half innings of play.
An RBI single from
Braedon Leathed in the fourth and a two run home run from
Quinn Meier in the fifth tied the score at 13-13 after five innings.
Single runs in the sixth and the seventh put Roosevelt back on top 15-13 heading into the bottom of the seventh.
Down to their last put, IUSB tied the game thanks to a two run home run from
Kaleb Farnham to send the game into extra innings.
The game remained 15-15 until the top of the tenth inning when Roosevelt pushed two runs across in the top of the frame. The Titans could not score in the bottom of the tenth and ended up losing game one 17-15 in ten innings.
Game 2
Kaleb Farnham continued his success at the plate in the bottom of the first, hitting an RBI single that scored
Jack Kienzle and put the Titans ahead early.
The remainder of game two was all Lakers as Roosevelt went on to score two runs in the second, three in the third, one in the fourth, and six in the fifth to take game two by a final score of 12-1.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Saturday, April 27th, when they travel to Roosevelt University for another doubleheader with the Lakers to conclude the regular season at 2:00 PM ET.
