NAPPANEE, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (12-22, 4-12 CCAC) dropped both games of their doubleheader to the Trinity Christian College Trolls (18-16, 10-6 CCAC) dropping game one 15-5 before falling in game two by a final score of 17-3.
Game 1
IU South Bend took the lead in the first inning of game one thanks to an RBI single from
Kaleb Farnham that scored
Gabe Cortez.
Both teams traded runs in the third inning, with the Titans run scoring on an RBI single by
Jack Ryan to regain the lead for IUSB 2-1.
IU South Bend grew their lead in the bottom of the fourth when third baseman
Logan Smith hit a three run home run to put the Titans ahead 5-1.
The Titans lead was short lived as Trinity Christian answered with 10 runs in the top of the fifth inning to take an 11-5 lead.
Four more runs for the Trolls in the top of the seventh ended the game early with the Titans dropping game one by a final score of 15-5.
Game 2
IU South Bend took an early lead again in the first inning when
Josiah Nelson reached on an error that scored
Logan Smith.
However, Trinity Christian answered in the top of the second by scoring six runs on five hits to take a 6-1 lead.
A second inning RBI from
Logan Smith cut the Titans deficit to 6-2.
Again the Trolls answered in the third, scoring five runs on seven hits to break the game open and take an 11-2 lead.
Kaleb Farnham's third inning home run capped off the IUSB scoring and brought them a run closer, now trailing 11-3.
Three more runs in the fifth and the seventh for Trinity Christian ended the game early, with the Titans dropping game two of the doubleheader.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Tuesday, April 9th, when they host the Fighting Saints of Saint Francis 1:00 PM ET.
