SOUTH BEND, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (0-11, 0-1 CCAC) lost their first Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference match up to the Cougars of Saint Xavier University (4-5, 1-0 CCAC) in three sets by scores of 22-25, 14-25, and 24-26.
Set 1 saw the Titans take an early lead before the Cougars rattled off nine out of ten points to take a 15-11 lead. Saint Xavier did not look back in set one, winning the first set by a final score of 25-22.
Set two was tied at 7-7 before Saint Xavier ran with the second set by a final score of 25-14.
IU South Bend and Saint Xavier had their closest set of the night in the third set. The Titans jumped out to an early 8-3 lead before the Cougars came storming back, tying set three at 13-13. Thursday's third set was tied as late as 24-24 before Saint Xavier scored the final two points to take the third set 26-24 to sweep IUSB in the three sets.
The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Friday, September 6th, when they travel to Grand Rapids, Mich., to play a doubleheader. Game one starts at 3:00 PM ET against the Aquinas College Saints followed by a 5:00 PM ET match against the Phoenix of Cumberland University.
