Titans Battle but Fall to Olivet Nazarene

SOUTH BEND --- The Indiana University South Bend women's soccer team put up a strong effort at Newton Park on Tuesday evening, but came up short against Olivet Nazarene University, falling 3-0 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Match Summary

The visiting undefeated Tigers (6-0-6, 4-0-5 CCAC) applied early pressure and broke through in the 10th minute when Melea Miller scored off an assist from Sofia Diaz. IU South Bend (2-9-3, 0-6-2 CCAC) held firm the rest of the half, with goalkeeper Rylee Cotton making several crucial stops to keep it a one-goal game at halftime.

In the second half, Olivet Nazarene doubled its lead in the 53rd minute as Aaliyah Racadio-Kahoohanohano found the back of the net, again assisted by Diaz. The Tigers added one more in the 85th minute from Cassidy Garberding to seal the result.

Despite the scoreline, Cotton was outstanding between the posts, finishing with 16 saves, including a stop on a penalty kick early in the second half.

Team Notes

IU South Bend totaled five shots, with four on-target, while Olivet Nazarene registered 34 shots, including 21 on-goal.

Alyssa Brito, Fatima Cervantes, Olivia Enyeart, and Payton Olszewski each recorded a shot on-goal for the Titans.

Cotton's 16 saves mark her second-highest total of the season.

The Titans will be back in action on the road against Holy Cross College on Saturday at 7:00 pm.
