Second Half Push Proves Not Enough

JOLIET, Ill. --- The Indiana University South Bend women's soccer team put up a strong fight on the road Wednesday evening, scoring twice in the second half but was unable to overcome in a 3-2 loss to St. Francis in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The match marked the fourth time this season the Titans have scored at least two goals, as Katie Coleman and Olivia Enyeart continued their offensive prowess.

Match Summary

St. Francis (11-3-3, 8-2-2 CCAC) opened the scoring just three minutes in on a deflected shot off a free kick, then doubled its lead in the 25th minute to go up 2-0 at halftime.

IU South Bend (3-11-3, 1-8-2 CCAC) refused to back down, rallying after the break with sustained attacking pressure. In the 71st minute, Olivia Enyeart cut the deficit in half, scoring off a corner kick from Yulissa Gallegos after a scramble in front of goal.

Just minutes later, St. Francis responded with a third goal to push the lead back to two, but the Titans struck again in the 80th minute. Katie Coleman capitalized when the Saints' keeper came off her line, calmly finishing a pass from Enyeart to make it 3-2. IU South Bend pressed for the equalizer late but couldn't find the breakthrough.

Team Notes

Enyeart recorded a goal and an assist, while Coleman added her fourth goal of the season.

Gallegos notched her first assist of the year on Enyeart's tally.

Rylee Cotton was strong in goal again, making 12 saves against 20 total shots.

The Titans totaled 12 shots, with seven on-goal, compared to 20 shots and 15 on-goal for the Saints.

IU South Bend closes out its regular season on Saturday, when the Titans face off against Mount Mary on the road at 2:30 pm.
