Titans Use Second-Quarter Surge to Pull Away at Mount Mary

MILWAUKEE, Wis. --- IU South Bend rode a dominant second-quarter stretch and an impressive outing from senior Tenleigh Phelps to secure an 82-60 road victory over Mount Mary on Saturday afternoon. The win improved the Titans to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in CCAC play, marking their third victory in the last four games.

Phelps was nearly unstoppable, finishing with 26 points on 11-of-15 shooting while adding seven rebounds, three assists, and four steals in 31 minutes. The Titans placed three players in double figures, with Keylee Hudson (15 points), Sydney Jerrells (11), and Bradie Chambers (8) all contributing steady offense in a game IU South Bend controlled for the final three quarters.

The opening frame belonged to Mount Mary, who started 7-for-14 from the field and took a 19-14 lead after 10 minutes. But from that point forward, IU South Bend flipped the game. The Titans gave up six points in the opening two minutes of the second quarter, before only allowing two more the rest of the way before half. The defense was relentless, holding Mount Mary to 33.3 percent shooting in the quarter to go along with 12 turnovers.

By halftime, the Titans had outscored the Blue Angels 28-8 in the quarter, taking a commanding 42-27 lead into the locker room. IU South Bend forced 17 first-half turnovers, turning them into continuous transition opportunities and 17 points.

The second half featured a steady pace from IUSB, as the team gradually added to its lead through the final buzzer, taking the win at 82-60.

IU South Bend's bench delivered steady late-game production as well, with Lindsay Arcella contributing five points, five rebounds, and five steals and Ava Grant adding four points and three steals in 18 minutes. The Titans finished with 21 total steals, led by Phelps (4), Arcella (5), Hudson (3), and Grant (3) — the program's highest single-game takeaway total of the season. The Blue Angels struggled to handle IU South Bend's pressure, committing 30 turnovers, which the Titans converted into 26 points.

IU South Bend will return to action after the Thanksgiving break, facing Great Lakes Christian at home on Thursday, December 4 at 7:00 pm.
