Historic Win Pushes IU South Bend Past Judson

SOUTH BEND --- The Indiana University South Bend women's soccer team added another milestone to its record-setting season Tuesday afternoon, earning a 1-0 victory over Judson University at Newton Park.

The win was IU South Bend's first over Judson in six all-time meetings, while Olivia Enyeart's first-half goal was also the Titans' first ever against the Eagles. IU South Bend improved to 5-6-1 overall and 4-2 in conference play, with both the five overall wins and four conference victories already standing as single-season program records with four matches remaining.

The Titans found the breakthrough in the 23rd minute. Fatima Cervantes delivered a high-arcing corner kick into the box, where Enyeart rose above the defense and redirected a header back across goal. The ball sailed beyond the goalkeeper's reach and inside the far side for what proved to be the game-winner.

IU South Bend had come close just moments earlier when Genevieve Smith struck the crossbar in the 23rd minute to set up the corner. The Titans generated seven shots in the opening half and carried the 1-0 advantage into the break.

Judson turned up the pressure after halftime, firing 12 of its 16 total shots in the second half, but the IU South Bend defense held firm. Goalkeeper Mikayla Saunders was tested repeatedly and turned away seven second-half shots as the Titans protected the one-goal lead.

Saunders finished with eight saves for the shutout, while IU South Bend limited Judson to eight shots on goal for the match.

The victory gives IU South Bend its fifth win of the season and fourth in conference play, continuing a historic campaign with four regular-season matches still to play.

The Titans will be back in action on the road at Viterbo on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
