Titans Open New Season With Dominant 52-Point Win

SOUTH BEND --- A new season brought a familiar winning feeling for IU South Bend, as the Titans opened their 2026-27 campaign in commanding fashion with a 93-41 victory over Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday afternoon at the Student Activities Center. The 52-point triumph marked the program's largest margin of victory in a season opener since the 2015-16 season.

The Titans (1-0) wasted little time establishing themselves, jumping out to a 9-0 lead and never looking back. IUSB shot a blistering 71.4 percent from the field in the opening quarter, with Bradie Chambers, Aubrie Booker, and Keylee Hudson providing the early offensive firepower. Ava Grant added a pair of triples off the bench to help the Titans build a 25-12 advantage after 10 minutes.

IU South Bend continued to dictate the pace in the second quarter, using its defensive pressure to create scoring opportunities at the other end. Hudson connected on two three-pointers early in the frame before Booker and Emma Reust helped spark a late offensive burst. Grant knocked down another triple in the closing seconds to send the Titans into halftime with a comfortable 47-24 lead.

The second half was more of the same, as IUSB overwhelmed the Wolverines on both ends of the floor. The Titans held Michigan-Dearborn to just nine points in the third quarter and eight in the fourth, while adding 46 second-half points of their own. IU South Bend's advantage grew to as many as 54 points in the final frame, capping a wire-to-wire performance.

Booker led the balanced offensive attack with a game-high 17 points, finishing a perfect 5-for-5 from the field while converting six of seven free throws. Grant provided a major spark off the bench, pouring in 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting, including four triples on five attempts.

Hudson followed with 15 points and four rebounds, while Kenzie Fulks stuffed the stat sheet with 11 points, five rebounds, four assists, and a game-high five steals. Chambers added nine points, three steals, and two blocks, making her presence felt on both ends of the court.

The Titans also received valuable contributions throughout the rotation. Reust collected six points and five rebounds while going 2-for-2 from beyond the arc, and Sydney Jerrells added six points and three assists. Making her second career start, Ashlee Schram grabbed a team-high six rebounds while dishing out four assists and collecting three steals.

IU South Bend's efficiency was on full display, as the Titans finished shooting 60.7 percent from the floor and 50.0 percent from three-point range. The team assisted on 20 of its 34 made baskets, while the reserves combined for 38 points.

Defensively, IUSB was equally impressive. The Titans forced 33 Michigan-Dearborn turnovers, collecting 20 steals and converting those mistakes into 46 points. IU South Bend also dominated the interior, outscoring the Wolverines 44-16 in the paint while holding the visitors to just 32.6 percent shooting.

With a complete team effort and a convincing opening victory, the Titans begin their new campaign at 1-0, carrying plenty of momentum into the early portion of the season.

The next contest for the Titans is set for next Saturday at home against Midway at 1:00 pm.
